The Australia Day Committee will host the Australia Day Community Awards at the Memorial Hall in Hyde Street, Bellingen at 6.30pm on Friday 24 January 2020.
Each year the people of the Bellingen Shire are invited to nominate fellow citizens for Australia Day Awards. The awards aim to recognise outstanding achievement during the past year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years.
Remaining Award Categories
Young Citizen of the Year – open to persons performing outstanding service, under the age of 21 years on 26 Jan 2020
Creative Arts Award – presented for Music, Art, Written or Performed, open to persons under the age of 21 years on 26 January 2020
Criteria and Eligibility
Detail the nominee’s achievements and contribution to the Bellingen Shire during 2019 and any sustained contribution prior to 2019
Contribution by an individual to the Bellingen Shire to be voluntary and unpaid and may be of general or specific nature
Unsuccessful nominees may be re-nominated in subsequent years
A person cannot receive a second award in the same Award category but can be considered for recognition in a separate category in following years, e.g. Young Citizen of the Year and then Citizen of the Year
Awards will not be granted posthumously
The committee reserves the right to obtain more information about each person from whatever source appropriate
The decisions of the Committee shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into on the subject of decisions made
Nomination Process
To nominate, please complete the nomination form. The nomination should detail the nature, duration and impact of the nominee’s contribution to the Bellingen Shire
Please supply supporting documentation to the nomination form
The Awards will be presented on the evening of Friday 24 January 2019 in Bellingen.
Any nomination received after the closing date cannot be considered
Additional information regarding nominations cannot be accepted after the closing date unless it is correcting earlier information supplied
