Bellingen Swim Centre Heated Pool Community Engagement
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
Consultation has concluded
Would you like to see Bellingen Swim Centre open for additional months of the year?
Council has the opportunity to submit a grant application under the Liquor and Gaming Infrastructure Grants Program to heat the twenty five metre pool at Bellingen Swim Centre enabling it to extend the current swim season.
Before submitting an application, Council would first like to understand whether this is something that meets the needs of the community.
Heating the Bellingen Pool will have many social benefits, but it will also increase operational costs.
If well attended, a heated pool will:
Increase active participation and improve community health and wellbeing.
Provide additional access to sport and recreational activities encouraging a greater sense of connection and belonging.
Create additional employment opportunities.
A heated pool will also encourage new programs and expand existing activities including those listed below:
Rehabilitation and disability programs
Carer respite programs
School sport programs
Learn to swim programs
Mums, dads & bubs programs
Aqua natal programs
Squad training
Aquatic safety training
Sport club training
Interregional sporting events
Aqua birthday parties
General recreation
Council is very interested to understand whether a heated pool meets the needs and aspirations of the community. If you would like to be involved in Council's decision making process, please fill out the quick survey below.
