Bellingen Shire Council is actively seeking additional funding from both State and Federal sources to supplement Council's general budget for the renewal and rehabilitation of our Shire's bridge network.
Under the current Bridges Renewal Program Round 4 Bellingen Shire Council will submit applications for funding for Bielsdown Bridge, Coramba Road, Dorrigo and Richardsons Bridge, Darkwood Road, Thora.
These bridges are high value timber bridge assets in our local bridge network, carrying large numbers of passenger, commercial and freight vehicles.
Generally, timber bridges have a lifespan of 40 years before major rehabilitation or replacement is required. Both Bielsdown Bridge and Richardsons Bridge are close to this age; with numerous signs of disrepair evident. This has manifested in the imposed 16t rigid and 31t articulated load limits on Richardsons, with Bielsdown to receive a load limit in the near future unless extensive works are undertaken.
To assist Council in the application process we are asking that members of the community, businesses and services provide us with their support through the completion of the following survey or through the provision of a letter of support.
Letters should be addressed to the General Manager; delivered to council@bellingen.nsw.gov.au or 33-39 Hyde Street Bellingen.
This survey will has now closed, thank you to everyone who took the time to provide valuable submissions.

Thank you for your time in
the completion of this survey. Every letter of support for these projects brings
more weight to our submission.
Please fill out the following questions in as much detail as possible - if you can add quantifiable facts; such as numbers or values these are greatly appreciated and go a long way toward providing evidence of the need for Richardsons Bridge to be replaced.
