The Bellingen Shire community is the big winner to the value of more than $1.55 million with thanks to the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

Council applied to the Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) in May for seven community focussed projects to pursue both Council and community group priorities.

On Monday 8 October, Oxley State MP and Minister for Roads and Maritime, The Hon. Melinda Pavey, announced that Council had been successful in obtaining funding, either in full or part, for all seven projects. These projects include:

Projects (fully funded)

Dorrigo Tennis Club Improvement Project ($56,602) – The project will see vital improvements made to the grounds to stabilise the existing courts retaining wall and improve the lighting for users.

Urunga Boardwalk Upgrade Stage 1 ($109,430) – The project will see the partial replacement of the existing timber decking with Envirowalk fibreglass mesh.

Urunga Inclusive Pathways Project ($202,998) – The project will see the installation of approximately 430 meters of new shared pathway and a pedestrian bridge.

Projects (part funded)

Bellingen Memorial Hall Improvements Project ($335,151) – The project will include stabilisation of the physical structure of the building along with a number of additional refurbishments (e.g. internal and external painting) making it 'fit for purpose' and contributing to the sustainability of the hall for the long-term.

Coronation Park Redevelopment Project ($326,880) - The project includes new accessible entry and improved paths, playground equipment including a disability swing, picnic shelter and other general improvements.

Mylestom Path and Surf Club Project ($261,884) – The project will see a new shared pathway installed along with an upgrade to the North Beach Surf Club to improve safety and enhance the amenity of the club.

Dorrigo to Dangar Falls Pathway Project ($259,008) – The project will see Stage 1 of the Dorrigo to Dangar Falls shared pathway completed.

The SCCF funding will enable three projects in Dorrigo, three projects in Urunga/Mylestom and one project in Bellingen.
